GATE.24
The cinematic finish for DaVinci Resolve — crop, vignette, film grain and contrast, in one node.
by Malejemplo
01
Put it last
GATE.24 does its math on real, developed color — never on Log or a wide gamut. One node, one fixed spot in the chain.
Not before the grade, not on Log.
Skin protection and grain both read the wrong values.
02
Applying it
1
Color page
Open the clip you already graded.
2
OpenFX → Malejemplo
Find GATE.24 in the effects list.
3
Drop on your last node
Or a fresh one right after it.
03
The panel
Six sections. Simple mode shows only Preset + Enable + Intensity for each — flip on Advanced for everything below.
Presets
Pick a look, tweak anything after.
Crop
Bars, any format.
Reframe
Move the shot, not the frame.
Vignette
Darkens or lifts the edges.
Grain
Real stocks: 8/16/35/65mm.
Contrast
S-curve with skin protection.
04
Remember
Presets apply once.
Change values by hand afterward — they stay exactly as you leave them.
Updates don't reach old clips.
Re-pick the preset on a clip to bring it the new values.
Any resolution, proxies included.
720p, 1080p, 4K — same math, same look.
